Meet Michael Forbes, MD, FAAP, FCCM
Dr. Forbes is the Chief Academic Officer at Akron Children’s. He also served as chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and is past president of the medical staff. He’s been practicing since 1998 and with Akron Children’s since 2006. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pa. He went on to complete a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dr. Forbes has a special interest in child abuse, traumatic brain injury, cardiac/pulmonary failure, health services delivery, biomedical informatics and preventative care. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with a subspecialty certification in pediatric critical care medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society for Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Trauma Society. Dr. Forbes has authored and contributed to numerous medical articles and is a professor of Pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
